So there you are, walking down a cobbled
street in a quiet Cornish port, musing on the state of the fishing
industry. You turn the corner and – Zap!
A clapperboard slams shut, there is a shout of “Action!” and a few feet
away is Martin Clunes, suited and booted and playing grumpy Doc Martin.
It must be Port Isaac.
This little patch of north Cornwall is known to a few afficionados as the home of folk band Fisherman’s Friends and the location of a restaurant run by double Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw. But to almost everyone else in the world this is Port Wenn, fictional home to the good doctor since 2004 when the first series was made.
